The league at a glance

A new name. A league full of new combinations.

The competition enters 2026/27 as the PGE Basket Liga, following the sponsorship announcement on 26 September. There are 16 clubs, a 30-game regular season and a play-in route for places 7–10. Astoria returns after winning promotion from 1 Liga.

The front of the field

Legia and Śląsk receive title-ambition bands for their current personnel and coaching context. Both have rebuilt important combinations. King, Anwil, Arka, Dziki and Zastal have plausible deep-playoff ambitions, with different integration risks. These are editorial bands, not a projected table.

The opening sample needs context

Dziki have seven away games in their first ten. Anwil and Śląsk reach ten actual games before nominal round ten because their round-13 meeting is scheduled for 3 December. The cards show each club’s actual sequence.

The late-news layer matters

Curry at Górnik, Jackson at Dziki, Edwin at Anwil and Scruggs at Śląsk arrive close to the opener. Waterman’s finger problem, Smith’s rehabilitation and the absence clusters at Anwil and Start can materially change the opening rotations.

The useful next observation

Log active players, the main handler and the closing five. Revisit each card’s two signals after games 5 and 10. A stable role with repeatable possession quality is more useful than a striking friendly score.

Opens 2 October 2026: Czarni–Legia at 18:00, then Trefl–Dziki at 20:15. Times are local to Poland. Club assessments are frozen at 29 September 2026, 20:40 CEST (Europe/Warsaw, UTC+02:00).

PGE Basket Liga · ARK

AMW Arka Gdynia

Deep-playoff ambitionMedium continuity
Head coachMantas Česnauskis · Retained2025/26: 18–12 · 6th regular season
What remainsŁączyński, Garbacz and Zyskowski preserve an experienced Polish perimeter; the imported frontcourt and scoring mix change.

Retained core: Kamil Łączyński · Jakub Garbacz · Jarosław Zyskowski

Key in · selected

  • Mate Vučić — interior option; announced 1 Aug
  • Kasper Suurorg — guard; announced 28 Jul
  • Shiloh Robinson — forward; announced 5 Aug
  • Jaquan Lawrence — centre; announced 10 Aug

Key out · selected

  • Einaras Tubutis — Neptūnas; announced 13 Jul
  • Adam Hrycaniuk — retired; confirmed 13 Jun

Expected basketball identity · analysis

Arka can organise around Łączyński while Garbacz and Zyskowski supply familiar perimeter reference points. Suurorg and Stein give the backcourt new scoring routes, with Vučić and Lawrence changing the interior options after Hrycaniuk’s retirement and Tubutis’ exit. Česnauskis has continuity in the domestic core but must establish new defensive partnerships. The central question is whether the added options produce balanced creation rather than several disconnected attacks.

Season outlook · analysis

A meaningful playoff run is a plausible ambition. The experienced Polish core provides a floor, while the new guard–centre partnerships determine how far Arka can rise.

The defining question

Can Arka preserve perimeter fluency while rebuilding its interior defence?

Capper watch

  • Separate Vučić’s and Lawrence’s centre minutes; their foul exposure can change the closing unit.
  • Check whether Suurorg supplements Łączyński or becomes the main late-clock initiator.

First-ten signals

  • Log turnovers and assisted baskets in games 1–5 versus 6–10, with the active guards noted.
  • Track opponent offensive-rebound percentage alongside the centre used for the final five minutes.

Availability evidence: Łączyński, Garbacz, Zyskowski and the six imported players appear in the 20 Sep report. This establishes participation that day, not medical clearance for the opener.

PGE Basket Liga · ANW

Anwil Włocławek

Deep-playoff ambitionLow continuity
Head coachVedran Bosnić · New2025/26: 17–13 · 7th regular season
What remainsThe coach and principal creators are new. Słupiński and Łazarski are bridges to last season, not a retained first-choice spine.

Retained core: Dawid Słupiński · Bartosz Łazarski

Key in · selected

  • Manu Lecomte — lead guard; announced 14 Jul
  • Hans Vanwijn — forward; announced 22 Jul
  • Samuel Hines Jr. — wing; announced 16 Jul
  • Deon Edwin — late guard addition; announced 22 Sep

Key out · selected

  • Michał Michalak — Trefl Sopot; announced 30 Jul
  • Mate Vučić — Arka Gdynia; announced 1 Aug
  • Elvar Már Friðriksson — Neptūnas; announced 6 Jul

Expected basketball identity · analysis

Anwil is a reconstruction under Bosnić. Lecomte can organise the new attack, Vanwijn can connect perimeter and interior actions, and Hines gives the wings another scoring route. Freeman supplies a new centre reference while the retained players offer limited continuity in the principal combinations. Edwin’s late arrival and the September absence cluster complicate the intended guard rotation. The early task is to establish repeatable roles before judging the ceiling.

Season outlook · analysis

The new personnel support a deep-playoff ambition, with unusually wide early uncertainty. Six home dates in the first ten offer opportunity, but a thinner active squad could distort the opening assessment.

The defining question

Can Bosnić establish a stable guard hierarchy before the injury backlog clears?

Capper watch

  • Confirm Strong, Forrest, Wójcik and Edwin separately; a roster listing is not a return date.
  • Distinguish a full-strength rotation from the short rotation used in the 24 Sep ENBL game.

First-ten signals

  • Record the primary handler and closing five each game; count changes through games 5 and 10.
  • Compare team turnovers and free-throw attempts per field-goal attempt across the two five-game blocks.

Availability evidence: 24 Sep club report: Josiah Strong and Jack Forrest were injured and absent; Edwin was not in the match squad; Szymon Wójcik was listed but did not play. Opening availability remains to be confirmed.

PGE Basket Liga · TOR

Arriva Lotto Twarde Pierniki Toruń

Playoff / play-in fightMedium continuity
Head coachSrdjan Subotić · Retained2025/26: 12–18 · 12th regular season
What remainsCousins and Kulig remain usable reference points, but Kunc and two Polish ball handlers have left.

Retained core: Isaiah Cousins · Damian Kulig · Paweł Sowiński

Key in · selected

  • Bennett Vander Plas — forward; from Dziki
  • Viktor Gaddefors — returning forward
  • Kristaps Kilps — new perimeter option
  • Maksymilian Wilczek — wing; from Legia

Key out · selected

  • Aljaž Kunc — Girona; announced 11 Jun
  • Mateusz Szlachetka — Anwil; announced 9 Jul
  • Adam Brenk — Anwil; announced 16 Jul

Expected basketball identity · analysis

Subotić retains Cousins and Kulig as experienced reference points, while Vander Plas and Gaddefors reshape the forward positions. Kilps adds a new perimeter option, but the departures of Kunc, Szlachetka and Brenk alter both spacing and organisation. Wilczek’s hand injury removes one planned wing from the early picture. Toruń needs the new forwards to support creation without leaving its defensive rotations dependent on constant emergency help.

Season outlook · analysis

The reasonable starting band is a playoff or play-in fight. Defensive improvement and viable minutes beyond the veteran core matter more than a few high-scoring friendly performances.

The defining question

Do the new forwards improve Toruń’s defensive balance without narrowing the attack?

Capper watch

  • Track Wilczek’s return through a dated club update, not a guessed recovery window.
  • Watch the minutes burden on Cousins and Kulig while the perimeter rotation is unsettled.

First-ten signals

  • Log opponent free-throw rate and offensive-rebound percentage after games 5 and 10.
  • Count games with at least three players recording three or more assists; inspect who creates when Cousins rests.

Availability evidence: 14 Sep reporting quotes the club: Maksymilian Wilczek fractured a metacarpal and faces a prolonged absence. No exact return date was verified. Cousins, Kulig, Vander Plas, Gaddefors and Kilps appear in the 20 Sep report.

PGE Basket Liga · DZI

Dziki Warszawa

Deep-playoff ambitionLow continuity
Head coachMarco Legovich · Retained2025/26: 18–12 · 5th regular season
What remainsLegovich and Polish rotation pieces remain, but the principal imported creation and interior combinations change.

Retained core: Michał Aleksandrowicz · Grzegorz Kamiński · Łukasz Frąckiewicz

Key in · selected

  • Austin Luke — lead guard; announced 6 Aug
  • Joe Girard III — scoring guard
  • Osun Osunniyi — centre
  • Quan Jackson — late guard/wing; announced 23 Sep

Key out · selected

  • Landrius Horton — London Lions; announced 7 Jul
  • Bennett Vander Plas — Twarde Pierniki Toruń

Expected basketball identity · analysis

Legovich remains, but Dziki’s main offensive relationships are being rebuilt. Luke can organise, Girard offers a scoring outlet, and Osunniyi gives the new guards an interior target. Jackson’s late arrival adds another perimeter option after Horton’s departure. Waterman’s finger problem changes the available forward mix just before league play. The useful early evidence is whether this new group can defend and share creation consistently, especially away from home.

Season outlook · analysis

A deep playoff run is a plausible ambition, with a demanding opening sample: seven of the first ten are away. Read the record together with Waterman’s availability and the travel split.

The defining question

Can the new guard group create a reliable road attack while Waterman is unavailable?

Capper watch

  • Recheck Waterman’s status; the 28 Sep report gives no exact return date.
  • Jackson joined on 23 Sep, so distinguish immediate minutes from a settled long-term role.

First-ten signals

  • Split turnovers, free-throw rate and scoring margin by home/away; retain the sample sizes.
  • Record Luke/Jackson/Girard closing combinations and the replacement used for Waterman.

Availability evidence: 28 Sep reporting: Zane Waterman has a finger problem and will be unavailable for the coming weeks; no exact return was given. Jackson played in the 26 Sep Supercup semifinal after his late signing.

Establish / rebuildMedium continuity
Head coachAnders Sommer · New2025/26: 27–5 · 1 Liga champions / promoted
What remainsKimbrough, Kamiński and Nowakowski link the promoted side to its 1 Liga title, while the coach and frontcourt options change.

Retained core: Martyce Kimbrough · Karol Kamiński · Marcin Nowakowski

Key in · selected

  • Jayden Taylor — scoring guard
  • Jalen Thomas — centre
  • Denzel Andersson — forward
  • David Brembly — wing; from Stal

Key out · selected

  • Jakub Andrzejewski — Legia Warszawa
  • Michał Chyliński — retired; now sporting director

Expected basketball identity · analysis

Astoria brings part of its promotion core into a stronger competition. Kimbrough and Nowakowski offer familiar guard reference points, while Taylor adds a new scoring option and Thomas changes the centre position. Andersson and Brembly broaden the forwards around them. Sommer takes over with Skiba remaining on the staff. The transition should be judged through possession quality and defensive resistance rather than by carrying first-division production straight into PLK expectations.

Season outlook · analysis

Establishing a dependable PLK rotation is the first objective. Six home games in the opening ten provide a useful platform, but promotion form does not establish an immediate top-flight level.

The defining question

Can Astoria turn its promotion core into an effective PLK rotation?

Capper watch

  • Treat Taylor’s and Thomas’ roles as new professional partnerships, with minutes still to settle.
  • Keep last season’s 1 Liga statistics separate from PLK comparisons.

First-ten signals

  • Track turnovers per game and opponent offensive-rebound percentage in each five-game block.
  • Record which retained players stay on court in the final five minutes of games within ten points.

Availability evidence: Taylor, Thomas, Andersson, Brembly, Kimbrough and Nowakowski appear in the 20 Sep report. A comprehensive current medical bulletin was not verified.

Energa Czarni Słupsk

Establish / rebuildLow continuity
Head coachKrzysztof Szablowski · New2025/26: 9–21 · 14th regular season
What remainsJan Pluta remains, but the lead guard, imported scorers, interior rotation and head coach change.

Retained core: Jan Pluta

Key in · selected

  • Djordje Dimitrijević — lead guard
  • Dominic Green — wing; announced 3 Jul
  • Kacper Borowski — forward; announced 23 May
  • Demond Robinson — centre

Key out · selected

  • Samuel Hines Jr. — Anwil; announced 16 Jul
  • Michał Nowakowski — Górnik; announced 24 Aug
  • Dominik Wilczek — GTK Gliwice

Expected basketball identity · analysis

Czarni enter a broad reset under Szablowski. Dimitrijević supplies a new organising option, Green and the other imported wings reshape the scoring mix, and Robinson changes the centre reference. Borowski offers domestic frontcourt experience, while Jan Pluta provides one link to the previous group. With so many new combinations, the first task is establishing ball security and a repeatable defensive structure before assigning lasting meaning to shooting swings.

Season outlook · analysis

The opening band is establish and rebuild, with room to challenge the play-in if the new guards and interior settle quickly. The opening visit from Legia is an immediate structural test.

The defining question

Can Szablowski establish a reliable defensive identity in a largely new rotation?

Capper watch

  • Watch the rotation behind Dimitrijević when opponents pressure the ball.
  • Check whether Robinson and Borowski can stay available through fouls without shrinking the frontcourt.

First-ten signals

  • Compare turnovers and opponent free-throw attempts in games 1–5 and 6–10.
  • Record the closing five and whether the same guard–centre pairing closes consecutive competitive games.

PGE Basket Liga · TRE

Energa Trefl Sopot

Playoff / play-in fightMedium continuity
Head coachKrzysztof Roszyk · New2025/26: 19–11 · 4th regular season
What remainsSchenk and Zapała preserve an organising pair; Michalak joins a changed foreign rotation under a new head coach.

Retained core: Jakub Schenk · Szymon Zapała

Key in · selected

  • Michał Michalak — scorer; from Anwil, 30 Jul
  • Perttu Blomgren — perimeter option
  • Trey Anderson — forward
  • Stefan Simanić — frontcourt option

Key out · selected

  • Paul Scruggs — Śląsk; announced 27 Sep
  • Mikołaj Witliński — King Szczecin
  • Kasper Suurorg — Arka; announced 28 Jul

Expected basketball identity · analysis

Trefl’s new structure can begin with Schenk’s organisation and Zapała’s interior presence, with Michalak adding an established scoring option. Blomgren, Anderson and Simanić must find roles around that Polish core under Roszyk. Scruggs and Witliński leave meaningful responsibilities behind, while Zackery’s cancelled move changes the original summer plan. The team needs an effective second route to creation so opponents cannot overload its most familiar actions.

Season outlook · analysis

A playoff or play-in fight is a sensible initial band. The domestic core gives Trefl a base, while the new coach and imported rotation make depth and secondary creation the main uncertainties.

The defining question

Who creates dependable possessions when Schenk is off the floor?

Capper watch

  • Zackery is not an active option; assess the roster that actually survived the summer.
  • Watch how Roszyk distributes Schenk, Michalak and Blomgren minutes in close games.

First-ten signals

  • Log team assists and turnovers in both five-game blocks, noting Schenk’s minutes.
  • Record the non-Schenk handler and whether those stretches generate paint touches before jump shots.

Availability evidence: Trefl played the Supercup semifinal on 26 Sep. Jaeden Zackery failed medical tests and his planned move was cancelled in August; he is not in the active squad.

Establish / rebuildLow continuity
Head coachNebojša Vidić · Retained2025/26: 7–23 · 15th regular season
What remainsGordon and Misztal remain, but the imported rotation has been rebuilt around a retained coach.

Retained core: Kacper Gordon · Kajetan Misztal

Key in · selected

  • Eric Nottage — lead guard
  • Selton Miguel — scoring guard/wing
  • Justin Gray — wing; replaces a cancelled summer signing
  • Milan Šuškavčević — centre

Key out · selected

  • Kuba Piśla — Legia; announced 18 Sep
  • Wesley Gordon — CS Vâlcea; reported 20 Jun

Expected basketball identity · analysis

GTK has kept Vidić while rebuilding its imported rotation. Nottage can organise the ball, Miguel and Gray provide new perimeter options, and Šuškavčević changes the centre position. Gordon and Misztal offer limited continuity around them. The late substitution of Gray for a cancelled signing illustrates why the current squad matters more than the first summer announcement. Establishing dependable defensive possessions is the clearest route to a stronger baseline.

Season outlook · analysis

The initial ambition is to establish a competitive floor and move into the play-in conversation. A new imported group makes early cohesion and availability more informative than reputation.

The defining question

Can GTK turn a rebuilt imported rotation into consistent possession-by-possession defence?

Capper watch

  • Assess the active Nottage–Miguel–Gray combinations before assigning permanent perimeter roles.
  • Watch how Vidić covers centre fouls and the minutes allocated to the young retained players.

First-ten signals

  • Track opponent offensive-rebound percentage and free-throw rate after five and ten games.
  • Count games with more assists than turnovers and identify who initiates the closing possessions.

Availability evidence: The 13 Sep report confirms participation by several new players, including Nottage, Gray and Šuškavčević. No comprehensive medical bulletin was verified; a missing scorer line is not an injury diagnosis.

Playoff / play-in fightLow continuity
Head coachAndrzej Adamek · Retained2025/26: 15–15 · 11th regular season
What remainsFour players remain in the club’s 26 Sep review; the creator and imported frontcourt combinations are substantially new.

Retained core: Ike Smith · Dariusz Wyka · Maciej Bojanowski

Key in · selected

  • Mike Scott — lead guard; announced 17 Jul
  • Kenny Goins — forward; announced 17 Jul
  • AJ Rohosy — centre; announced 28 Aug
  • Ron Curry — late guard addition; announced 27 Sep

Key out · selected

  • Lovell Cabbil Jr. — departed; subsequent Krka contract ended 2 Sep
  • Grzegorz Kulka — Start Lublin

Expected basketball identity · analysis

Górnik retains Adamek but has changed much of the playing structure. Scott can organise the new guard group, Goins and Rohosy alter the frontcourt, and Curry arrives as a short-term reinforcement while Ike Smith rehabilitates. Wyka and Bojanowski remain familiar reference points. Replacing Cabbil’s creation is a central challenge, but the immediate version must also work with the players available now rather than an assumed fully fit squad.

Season outlook · analysis

A playoff or play-in fight is plausible. The opening weeks are partly a temporary construction: Curry’s short contract and Smith’s absence can change both usage and the closing lineup.

The defining question

Can Scott and Curry build a functional attack before Ike Smith returns?

Capper watch

  • Track Curry’s three-month contract and the club’s later option decision separately from his current role.
  • Use dated updates for Smith; the latest club account supersedes earlier optimistic reports.

First-ten signals

  • Log Scott/Curry overlap, assist-to-turnover totals and who closes the last five minutes.
  • Track defensive-rebound percentage with Rohosy on court and the replacement centre used when he sits.

Availability evidence: 27 Sep club announcement: Curry signed for three months with a club option for the rest of the season, while Ike Smith continues rehabilitation expected to take at least several more weeks.

Head coachMaciej Majcherek · Retained2025/26: 21–9 · 2nd regular season
What remainsGielo, Żołnierewicz and Kostrzewski remain around Majcherek; all imported players change.

Retained core: Tomasz Gielo · Przemysław Żołnierewicz · Mateusz Kostrzewski

Key in · selected

  • Ondřej Sehnal — lead guard; announced 16 Jul
  • Alexandre Chassang — centre
  • Mikołaj Witliński — frontcourt; from Trefl
  • Noah Reynolds — scoring guard; announced 17 Jul

Key out · selected

  • Nemanja Popović — Memphis; current university roster
  • Jovan Novak — departed; reported 15 Aug

Expected basketball identity · analysis

King preserves Majcherek and a substantial Polish wing core, then rebuilds the imported group around Sehnal, Reynolds and Chassang. Witliński adds another domestic frontcourt option beside Gielo, with Żołnierewicz and Kostrzewski maintaining familiar connections. Losing Popović and Novak still requires new creation and interior relationships. The roster suggests several workable combinations; the early challenge is choosing those that defend together without reducing the space available to the guards.

Season outlook · analysis

A deep playoff run is a credible ambition. Six home games in the first ten provide a favourable setting for integration, although last season’s strong home record belongs to a different imported group.

The defining question

Can King’s retained Polish core accelerate the new guards’ and centres’ integration?

Capper watch

  • Do not label the assistant-coach change a head-coach reset; Majcherek remains.
  • Watch how Chassang and Witliński split centre minutes and which combinations preserve spacing.

First-ten signals

  • Track Sehnal’s assists and turnovers alongside team three-point attempt rate in each five-game block.
  • Record the closing frontcourt and opponent offensive-rebound percentage in those games.

Availability evidence: Chassang, Sehnal, Reynolds, Witliński and the featured retained core appear in the 20 Sep report. No comprehensive medical bulletin was verified.

Head coachHeiko Rannula · Retained2025/26: 22–8 · 1st regular season
What remainsThe championship coach and Polish wings stay, but Pluta and the main imported creators/interior pieces have been replaced.

Retained core: Michał Kolenda · Wojciech Tomaszewski · Błażej Czapla

Key in · selected

  • Kristers Zoriks — lead guard
  • Arguster Daniels IV — scoring wing
  • Zach Freemantle — frontcourt scorer
  • Kuba Piśla — late wing addition; announced 18 Sep

Key out · selected

  • Andrzej Pluta — Girona; announced 23 Jun
  • Matthias Tass — Start Lublin
  • Maksymilian Wilczek — Twarde Pierniki Toruń

Expected basketball identity · analysis

Legia keeps Rannula after the title but replaces much of the championship playing structure. Zoriks and Daniels take on new perimeter responsibilities, while Freemantle and Golomán reshape the interior options. Tomaszewski and Czapla provide returning wing depth, with Kolenda still completing rehabilitation. Piśla’s late addition helps cover a disrupted rotation. The central task is sustaining organised creation and defensive balance after Pluta’s departure, rather than assuming automatic championship continuity.

Season outlook · analysis

Title ambition remains reasonable, supported by the retained coach and the new personnel. The Supercup confirms competitive participation, but does not resolve the longer-term rotation or the current injury constraints.

The defining question

Can the rebuilt champions maintain quality when their first-choice creators rest?

Capper watch

  • Kolenda did not play in the Supercup; verify his first actual appearance and workload.
  • Tomczak’s September prognosis concerns time away from training, not a guaranteed match-return date.

First-ten signals

  • Record Zoriks/Daniels creation shares, team turnovers and the handler used in bench stretches.
  • Track opponent offensive-rebound percentage and closing-frontcourt changes through games 5 and 10.

Availability evidence: 16 Sep: Szymon Tomczak’s foot injury was expected to require about three months away from training. On 28 Sep the club said Kolenda had not played in the Supercup and was approaching a return to team training; October availability was an expectation.

  • Daylen Kountz — scoring guard

Key out · selected

  • Ron Curry — Górnik; announced 27 Sep
  • Dominic Green — Czarni; announced 3 Jul
  • Justin Gray — GTK; confirmed August

Expected basketball identity · analysis

Gronek retains Peterka, Musiał and Piechowicz, but the imported creation and centre options are substantially different. Hall and Lofton offer new ways to initiate, with Kountz supplying another perimeter route and Boone an interior target. Peterka can help connect those pieces from the frontcourt. Curry’s eventual departure closes an earlier summer possibility. MKS needs the new guards to share responsibility without compromising its defensive balance when possessions break down.

Season outlook · analysis

The starting band is a playoff or play-in fight. Six home dates in the first ten give the new group an opportunity to build a base; guard decision-making and transition defence set the limits.

The defining question

Can Hall and Lofton organise a balanced attack without exposing the defence?

Capper watch

  • Treat Curry as a departure; older renewal reports do not describe the opening roster.
  • Check Boone’s foul load and the smaller frontcourt Gronek uses behind him.

First-ten signals

  • Compare assists, turnovers and opponent fast-break points where the official box provides them.
  • Log Hall/Lofton overlap and the closing centre in games 1–5 and 6–10.

Retained core: Courtney Ramey · Filip Put · Bartłomiej Pelczar

Key in · selected

  • Lucas Williamson — scoring wing
  • Matthias Tass — centre; from Legia
  • Grzegorz Kulka — forward; from Górnik

Key out · selected

  • Liam O’Reilly — Sporting CP; announced 16 Aug
  • Michał Krasuski — Dziki Warszawa

Expected basketball identity · analysis

Kamiński retains Ramey, Put and Pelczar while reshaping the main guard, wing and centre combinations. Lottie brings another organiser, Williamson a new perimeter scoring route, and Tass a different interior reference. Kulka and Jõesaar are intended forward options, but the final friendly came with several absences. Start’s early identity therefore depends on both role allocation and which frontcourt pieces are genuinely available, especially when the first lineup rests.

Season outlook · analysis

A playoff or play-in challenge is a reasonable aspiration, with a wide early range. Six home dates in the first ten help, but the frontcourt’s availability must accompany every early performance judgement.

The defining question

Can Start build a coherent defence while integrating an interrupted frontcourt?

Capper watch

  • Recheck Kulka, Jõesaar and Tass individually after the 27 Sep injury update.
  • Exclude the inconsistent individual scoring line in the final-friendly article from analysis.

First-ten signals

  • Record active frontcourt players, centre minutes and opponent offensive-rebound percentage.
  • Track Lottie/Ramey assist and turnover totals, separating games with and without the intended starting centre.

  • Tajion Jones — perimeter scorer
  • Karl-Johan Lips — forward

Key out · selected

  • Quan Jackson — Dziki; announced 23 Sep
  • David Brembly — Astoria Bydgoszcz

Expected basketball identity · analysis

Stal retains Urban but reworks the principal imported roles. Hunter supplies a new organising option, Jones offers perimeter scoring, and Lips changes the forward mix around returning Gołębiowski and Czoska. Jackson’s departure leaves a perimeter responsibility that must be reassigned, while Brembly’s move removes another familiar wing. The first ten games should reveal whether scoring options translate into controlled possessions and whether the new group can defend without frequent rotation breakdowns.

Season outlook · analysis

The initial band is a playoff or play-in fight. Jones’ spectacular friendly is a reason to examine shot quality and usage, not a basis for extrapolating regular-season scoring.

The defining question

Can Stal pair its new scoring options with a dependable defensive structure?

Capper watch

  • Use Jaylin Hunter as the new point guard; similar player names in transfer lists can mislead.
  • Separate Jones’ friendly production from PLK performance and watch his shot diet against stronger pressure.

First-ten signals

  • Track team three-point attempt rate and turnovers in each five-game block, not percentage alone.
  • Record the closing perimeter defenders and opponent free-throw rate in competitive games.

Availability evidence: Jones played in the 26 Sep friendly against MKS; the report confirms Urban as coach. A complete current medical bulletin was not verified. Jones’ reported 47 points belong to a friendly, not a PLK season record.

What remainsNizioł and Luc remain, but Franco inherits a heavily rebuilt imported guard and frontcourt rotation.

Retained core: Jakub Nizioł · Kyrell Luc

Key in · selected

  • Anthony Hickey — lead guard; announced 20 Aug
  • Devin Robinson — forward
  • John Egbunu — centre
  • Paul Scruggs — late guard addition; announced 27 Sep

Key out · selected

  • Noah Kirkwood — Cedevita Olimpija; league review 16 Sep
  • Stefan Đorđević — Budućnost; league review 15 Sep

Expected basketball identity · analysis

Śląsk changes coach and much of its imported structure. Hickey gives Franco an experienced organiser, Robinson and Egbunu offer different frontcourt targets, and Nizioł preserves a domestic reference point. Scruggs arrives late, joining a guard group that also includes Parsons and Luc. Rogers’ departure changes the summer plan again. The expected domestic rotation must be established on its own terms because European and PLK lineups may use the available personnel differently.

Season outlook · analysis

The personnel support title ambition in Poland, with substantial integration risk. The first ten include the advanced December game at Anwil, so the monitoring window ends before nominal round ten.

The defining question

Can Franco turn a crowded new guard group into a clear domestic hierarchy?

Capper watch

  • Verify Scruggs’ registration and first PLK minutes; his 27 Sep signing does not establish readiness.
  • Exclude Rogers after the 28 Sep termination and distinguish European selections from domestic ones.

First-ten signals

  • Record Hickey/Scruggs/Parsons/Luc usage and the actual closing guard pair each game.
  • Compare team turnovers and opponent offensive-rebound percentage in games 1–5 versus 6–10.

Availability evidence: Scruggs signed on 27 Sep, so his opening role and registration require a matchday check. Matt Rogers appeared in September friendlies but his contract was terminated on 28 Sep; he is excluded from the active projection.

Deep-playoff ambitionMedium continuity
Head coachArkadiusz Miłoszewski · Retained2025/26: 16–14 · 8th regular season
What remainsMazurczak, Garrison and Matczak retain an established perimeter structure; several forwards and interior roles change.

Retained core: Andrzej Mazurczak · Conley Garrison · Filip Matczak

Key in · selected

  • Beau Beech — late forward addition
  • Gauthier Denis — wing
  • Trazarien White — forward
  • Veljko Brkić — centre

Key out · selected

  • Jakub Szumert — SMU; confirmed 24 Jun
  • Dwight Wilson — KB Peja; club confirmation

Expected basketball identity · analysis

Zastal keeps Miłoszewski and a recognisable perimeter framework through Mazurczak, Garrison and Matczak. Beech and Denis add new forward and wing options, while White and Brkić reshape the interior combinations after Szumert and Wilson leave. The retained guards can reduce the amount of basic reconstruction required. The challenge is ensuring the new frontcourt supports that continuity with dependable rebounding and defensive coverage rather than merely offering additional scoring choices.

Season outlook · analysis

A deep playoff run is a credible ambition, but last season’s final is not a guaranteed baseline. Four home games in the first ten make the away version of the new frontcourt particularly important.

The defining question

Can the retained guards carry last season’s connectivity into a new frontcourt?

Capper watch

  • Beech is a late addition; distinguish his initial minutes from the settled rotation.
  • Use the Supercup to confirm participation, not to forecast shooting efficiency or defensive strength.

First-ten signals

  • Track team assist-to-turnover totals and identify who creates when Mazurczak rests.
  • Compare opponent offensive-rebound percentage and paint points, where available, across home and away games.

Availability evidence: The 27 Sep Supercup final report confirms participation by all featured newcomers and the retained core. No comprehensive medical clearance for the PLK opener was verified.

Method, sources and limits

Scope and format

Sixteen clubs in the 2026/27 PGE Basket Liga. Each plays 30 regular-season games. The first six advance directly to the playoffs; places 7–10 enter the play-in for the final two berths. This report monitors each club’s first ten actual PLK games, about one third of the regular season.

How to read the ambition bands

Bands are qualitative editorial judgements based on the current personnel, coach, retained structure and integration risks. They describe plausible ambition, not a predicted final table, probabilities or club statements. Teams within a band are not ranked. No odds, picks or staking advice are included.

Continuity

High would mean the main creation and interior spine largely survives; medium means a meaningful core remains around changed roles; low means the principal combinations need rebuilding. No club is assigned high in this edition. The scale is not a calculation of retained minutes. A retained coach does not by itself mean a retained team.

Evidence and freshness

Current official club pages, dated announcements, PLK registers and September participation reports are reconciled with 2025/26 membership. Destination clubs and specialist Polish reporting resolve gaps. Newer dated evidence can override an older roster page. Key changes are selective; dates refer to evidence, not presumed contract execution.

Availability and limits

Signing, registration, presence in a box score and actual participation are different facts. An appearance on one date does not establish future fitness. Comprehensive medical clearance is not available for every club. Dziki’s website could not be read directly; PLK and dated specialist sources substitute. Some league roster pages remain incomplete.

First-ten review method

Record opponent, venue, active roster, primary handler and closing five. Review the two signals on each card after games 5 and 10. Shooting percentages need attempts and sample sizes; rate comparisons need consistent denominators. Friendly, Supercup and European results are labelled separately from PLK results.

Schedule and measurement

The schedule is ordered by currently listed dates. Anwil–Śląsk from round 13 is scheduled for 3 December and enters both clubs’ first ten. Times are local to Poland and may change. Opponent offensive-rebound percentage means opponent offensive rebounds divided by opponent offensive rebounds plus team defensive rebounds; free-throw rate means attempts divided by field-goal attempts.

Source hierarchy

PLK and PZKosz anchor the field, rules, schedule, official statistics and match records. Dated club pages anchor transactions and availability. Destination clubs provide a reverse check. WP SportoweFakty and other specialist or regional outlets fill identified gaps; transfer roundups are discovery aids and can be superseded.
